Summer placement & work experience opportunities
Summer placements are available across our office network and will give you an insight into what it’s like to work with us and an idea of the career potential we offer.
Throughout your placement, you’ll also be asked to prepare a short presentation on a research topic. For this, you’ll interview people across the firm, improving your knowledge, research and networking skills.
If you’re in your penultimate year of university study, you’re welcome to apply.
Our approach to learning
Our summer placement is all about learning in a hands-on way that is as wide and varied as possible with, and from, experienced colleagues who are supportive and friendly.
The recruitment process
We open our application process in December and collate applications across the Christmas break and January. The process includes:
- A short online application form – Apply online through our website. Tell us about you.
- Online numerical and verbal ability tests – You’ll be asked to complete online numerical and verbal ability tests. Show us your ability.
- Phone interview – You’ll have a phone interview with a member of our recruitment team who will want to get to know you and your ability. Describe your ability.
- Interview with a Director / Manager from the firm. Time to impress.
We aim to have selected individuals for summer placements across the firm by late spring.
A Level students are welcome to apply for work experience in the majority of our offices.
It’s a great opportunity to find out what it’s like to work with us, to see if a career in accountancy is for you and if an apprenticeship is the right way into the profession.
Over the course of a week, you’ll get exposure to our Business Services department to help and understand how to prepare year-end accounts, management accounts, prepare forecasts and projections, and help with compliance in areas such as company and business taxation, company secretarial matters and VAT returns.
The placement weeks are advertised on our website at the start of the academic year and we try to offer placements in half term holidays.
To apply, you should submit a CV and cover letter (via our recruitment portal) explaining why you are interested in completing a placement with PKF Francis Clark.
