“There is a real team spirit in the office and a collaborative environment.”
Working with great clients on wide-ranging projects and delivering the best possible solutions means there’s nowhere better to be your best.
Along the way, you’ll be supported by structured training and dedicated mentors and managers – it is the best way to establish a progressive and successful career.
Our specialist tax training, delivered by Reed Business School and leading provider Tolley Tax Training, offers you a choice of two programmes:
Joining our teams in corporate tax, private client tax or VAT, you’ll get career-building exposure to all areas of tax compliance work and advisory work.
If you are on the joint ACA-CTA programme your ACA training is delivered by Reed Business School. Reed Business School is one of the country’s leading centres of excellence for professional qualification tuition, offers residential and virtual training to allow you to focus without distraction and delivers well above average pass rates.
The ATT and CTA tuition is delivered by Tolley Tax Training where you will attend block tuition courses where you can focus on your studies away from the office.
Our tax teams enjoy diverse and varied roles as they provide tailored taxation planning and advisory services to clients, including large corporate groups, family businesses and individuals.
The tax departments (corporate, private client and VAT) work alongside partners and managers in our other departments providing the specialist in-depth advice required for the ever-increasing complexity of tax law dealing with HMRC administration and enquiries.
As well as studying throughout your time as a trainee, you’ll also gain invaluable experience as a tax advisor, working with a wide variety of organisations or individuals, interpreting complex legislation and delivering solutions in a way that the client understands.
Throughout, you’ll have lots of opportunities to use and grow your research and investigative skills by providing the specialist in-depth advice required for the ever-increasing complexity of tax law.
Life as a trainee is intensive and challenging but, if you are dedicated and focused, can deliver quality work and impress clients with high levels of service, the rewards are exceptional.
You’ll be assigned a buddy before you start and will be supported by a manager who will help fulfil your potential and keep you on track. Your buddy will be someone who has recently been where you are, so they will understand your first day nerves, can answer any questions you have and teach you the basics of your role.
If on the ACA-CTA programme you’ll also be supported by an ICAEW registered student counsellor who can offer direct support to help you achieve your ACA qualification.
Our training provider will also assign you with a mentor to ensure you stay on track and review your progress throughout.
Successful completion of your ATT-CTA Tax Pathway qualification takes around three years and qualifies you as a Chartered Tax Advisor.
The ACA-CTA joint programme takes around four years to complete and successful completion means that you will be both a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Advisor.
We open our application process for our tax trainee positions in September and attend various careers events across universities in the South and South West from September to November.
