PKF Francis Clark

David Head of Paraplanning

financial planning

“It’s a friendly and supportive environment with people who are proud of the work they do.”

  • What attracted you to PKF Francis Clark?

The size of the firm was a big factor, it felt the right size to have good career opportunities whilst not being so large that it loses its character and becomes very corporate. It is also very highly regarded and professional.

  • Tell us about your role and what you get involved in

I head up the paraplanning team, overseeing the day to day workflow coming into the team and ensuring we provide continued high quality and timely advice to all our clients whilst offering technical support to our financial planners. I conduct research and write reports for both our personal and business clients on a whole range of financially planning, including pensions, investments, protection and cashflow forecasting.

  • What do you like most about working here?

How friendly my colleagues are. It doesn’t matter which office you go to it’s always the same, the people are all very warm, welcoming and helpful. It’s also vastly different from a big corporate company, you actually feel valued and that the work that you do can make a difference.

  • Tell us about your career path since joining the firm and your ambitions for the future

I joined the firm as a Paraplanner in 2015 after being made redundant from a large high street bank as a Financial Adviser. Although I had many years of financial advice experience this was not in the Independent Financial Advice market so I had lots to learn. I have taken opportunities to learn and progress throughout my time, becoming a Senior Paraplanner then being appointed as Head of Paraplanning a few years later. I am very ambitious to continue to progress as far as I can within the firm.

  • How are you supported in your role?

From the day I started I had support from some very experienced and knowledgeable colleagues who have always been more than willing to help and support me when needed. I have certainly been supported to progress myself and feel this will continue throughout my career here.

  • What makes someone successful here?

Someone with a positive attitude who will get on with the work in hand, happy to rise to a challenge and is open and willing to learn new things.

A bit more about me

  • Where is your dream travel destination?

Maldives – being on an island, nice weather and warm seas away from the normal day-to-day activities of normal life with no technology and no interruptions (apart from someone asking me if I would like another drink!).
