David Senior Paraplanner
“It’s a friendly and supportive environment with people who are proud of the work they do.”
The size of the firm was a big factor, it felt the right size to have good career opportunities whilst not being so large that it loses its character and becomes very corporate. It is also very highly regarded and professional.
I am a Senior Paraplanner in Financial Planning, I conduct research and write reports for both our personal and business clients on a whole range of financial planning, including pensions investments and protection. In addition I look after the Paraplanning team workflow making sure we maintain timescales for producing client recommendation reports.
How friendly my colleagues are. It doesn’t matter which office you go to it’s always the same, the people are all very warm, welcoming and helpful. It’s also vastly different from a big corporate company, you actually feel valued and that the work that you do can make a difference.
It’s a friendly and supportive environment with people who are proud of the work they do.
I joined as a Paraplanner in 2015 after being made redundant from a large high street bank as a Financial Adviser. Although I had many years of financial advice experience this was not in the Independent Financial Advice market so I had lots to learn. I have taken opportunities to learn and progress throughout my time and became a Senior Paraplanner within a few years. I am very ambitious to continue to progress as far as I can!
Overcoming sudden redundancy and creating it into an opportunity for a better career and a job which I look forward to going to each day.
From the day I started I had support from some very experienced and knowledgeable colleagues who have always been more than willing to help and support me when needed. I have certainly been supported to progress myself and feel this will continue throughout my career here.
Someone with a positive attitude who will get on with the work in hand, happy to rise to a challenge and is open and willing to learn new things.
Don’t ‘consider’, just get on with applying! Let your personality come through in the interview.

Maldives – being on an island, nice weather and warm seas away from the normal day-to-day activities of normal life with no technology and no interruptions (apart from someone asking me if I would like another drink!).
‘A Brief History of Time’ – Professor Stephen Hawking. People need to see how great this man’s mind was and to understand his theories of the past and future of the universe we live in.
R.E.M – Automatic for the People, brings me back memories of my teenage years!
Treat people how you wish to be treated, you never know when you may need someone’s help/words of wisdom so don’t burn your bridges!
A nice run along the seafront where I live to start off with, a day out with my family and a nice dinner out to finish off.
I turned 40 this year so it’s don’t take life for granted and try to keep fit and healthy so I can keep up with my children.
Running to keep fit and healthy but mainly with my family for days out.
I would love to be able to learn to fly a plane, a fighter jet preferably to experience the speed!
